Leslie Weibeler’s Bow vs Bow

“Here, the only use of an object is invention. Weibeler takes an archetype of action (the weapon) and with it bows an archetype of leisure (the violin) to create a lyric that is stirring because it is awkward. In Weibeler’s associatively evolving imagery, a bow becomes unlike a bow until we are struck with the uncanny recognition of what of bow could be – how it could appear – chiefly, ourselves with hers improvising the music of interpretation.”
